Our son just recently finished a day treatment therapy program with Mike as his therapist. He is amazing with teenagers and was able to empathize with our son and his issues he was having. Although a lot of our sons progress depended upon his own doing, I really don't think the success would have been as great without Mike. He is highly recommended in our book.

I was dealing with a lot as a teenager suffering from clinical depression and I didn't make the best choices to handle what I was going through. I started out going to outpatient therapy and ended up in day treatment with Mike as my therapist. He taught me the tools I needed and really cared about not only helping me but also my family. In the end I learned to say what I needed to say. Mike is an awesome therapist!
Mike has a unique ability to connect with patients and their families. I remember an adolescent who was very reluctant to participate in therapy. He had a wall built up that seemed impenetrable. Mike took this young man outside by the pond during a session one day and challenged him to a “boat” building contest. Mike got down in the dirt and worked side by side with him, putting sticks and leaves together. I can’t remember who won the challenge, but I remember the bond that was formed by the pond that day and the change that started taking place in this teen.
About a year ago, a young boy came to Mike with a lot of anxiety and feelings of worthlessness. Mike discovered that he had never learned how to ride a bike and that this was a great source of embarrassment and feelings of failure for him. He invited the boy to bring his bike to a few sessions and taught him how to ride. It later became a metaphor for what he was facing at home and at school. The change in this boy was inspiring.
To Mike, each individual that he works with is unique and of great worth. He truly cares and it is evident in all he does. As Mike develops relationships with patients, he continually challenges them to do more, be better, and take charge of their mental health. It was my privilege to work with Mike for over four years. I learned a great deal from him, and I can recommend him as a therapist with total confidence and without hesitation.
